RFA Mounts Bay

IDL had been very focused on working with the oil and gas offshore sector over the past few years although we had worked regularly doing refurbs and galley service work on RFA Ships at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead we had not done any work for their sister company A&P Falmouth Limited since 2014.

We were naturally delighted to be awarded the galley refurbishment for the RFA Mounts Bay during the summer of 2020 by A & P Falmouth Limited.

RFA Mount Bay’s role

Since launching in 2004, RFA Mounts Bay’s role has been to support vital amphibious operations and exercises, all over the world. These involve offloading embarked troops, including Royal Marines Commandos, in all weather conditions.

RFA Mount’s Bay can carry amphibious vehicles and landing craft, so all necessary personnel can reach shore and complete their operation, whether that’s taking food and supplies to a disaster-hit area or supporting forces who are already on the ground.

Although some of the peripheral fabricated equipment in the galley were kept IDL supplied and installed all the new catering equipment including:

MKN Flexi-Combi Ovens, MKN Fryers, MKN Bratt Pans, MKN Galley Ranges, & Boiling pans to the central cooking island as well as installing a huge central service spine to house the required services and provide local isolation of the cooking equipment.

We installed 3 deck baking ovens from Caterbake, 2 x Hobart Mixers, 1 x Metcalfe Slicer and 2 x Electrolux Hood Dishwashers and 1 x Electrolux Conveyor Rack Dishwasher including tabling etc,

All the refrigerated units, including Thaw, blast and refrigerated cabinets were replaced with Williams Refrigeration Products.

This project was completed on time and in budget ready for the vessel to go back to sea and into normal operations.

Can we help your project?
